# Porting Out a Fax Number

> Understand how porting your fax number to another carrier works in Amplify.

Porting out lets you move your fax number from Amplify to another service provider. The process is simple, requires no support involvement, and is handled automatically once you confirm the request.

## How Port-Out Works

If you decide to move your fax number to another carrier:

* A confirmation request is sent to you to verify the port-out
* You have until the end of the business day to respond
* If no response is received, the request is automatically approved

Once the transfer is completed, the number is removed from Amplify automatically.

<Note>
  You don’t need to contact the Amplify support team to port out a number.
</Note>

## What Happens After Confirmation

After you approve the port-out request:

* The number is transferred to the new carrier
* Amplify automatically removes the fax number from your account
* The number will no longer appear in fax settings, inboxes, or dashboards

This ensures your workspace stays clean and up to date without any manual action.

<Tip>
  Make sure any active workflows using the number are completed before confirming the port-out.
</Tip>

## Important Things to Know

* Port-out confirmation is time-sensitive
* If no response is provided, the request proceeds automatically
* Once removed, the number cannot receive or send faxes in Amplify

<Warning>
  Porting out a number permanently disconnects it from Amplify.
