# Configure Fax Numbers

> Manage fax number settings, forwarding rules, and team access from one centralized place.

Configuring fax numbers in Amplify lets you control how faxes are received, routed, and shared across your team. Each fax number can be customized with labels, forwarding rules, and access permissions—so incoming faxes always reach the right people.

## Overview

With fax number configuration, you can:

* Label fax numbers for easy identification
* Forward incoming faxes to email or another fax number
* Control which team members can access or assign faxes
* Manage shared fax numbers across a workspace
* Connect fax numbers to automation and workflows

All settings are managed per fax number, giving you flexibility without complexity.

## Accessing fax number settings

1. Go to **Settings → Fax Numbers**.
2. Select the fax number you want to configure.
3. Open the **Fax Number** tab to view and edit its settings.

## Labeling a fax number

Each fax number can have a custom label to help teams quickly understand its purpose.

Examples include:

* Billing Fax
* Referrals
* Legal Documents
* Support Inbox

Labels are especially useful when multiple fax numbers are shared across teams.

## Fax forwarding options

You can automatically forward incoming faxes to ensure nothing is missed.

Available forwarding methods include:

* **Email forwarding**\
  Receive fax PDFs directly in an inbox.
* **Fax forwarding**\
  Forward incoming faxes to another fax number.

Forwarding can be used alone or alongside inbox access.

<Note>
  Forwarding sends a copy of the fax and does not remove it from Amplify.
</Note>

## Managing team access

Fax numbers can be shared with specific team members.

For each user, you can:

* Grant or remove access to the fax number
* Allow assignment of incoming faxes
* Control visibility without duplicating numbers

This makes shared fax numbers easy to manage across departments.

<Tip>
  Use shared access for team inboxes while keeping private numbers restricted.
</Tip>

## Automation and workflows

Fax numbers can be connected to automations to streamline how faxes are handled.

Examples include:

* Automatically routing faxes based on sender or content
* Assigning faxes to specific users or folders
* Triggering follow-up actions after receipt

To explore advanced routing, click **Create Automation** from the fax number settings.

## Using WebFax with a fax number

Each fax number can also be connected to a **WebFax page**, allowing external users to send faxes through a branded web link.

<Note>
  WebFax configuration is covered separately.\
  See [**WebFax**](https://ifax.mintlify.app/core-concepts/fax/create-personalized-web-fax) to learn how to create and customize a WebFax URL.
