# Email to fax

> Send faxes directly from your email without logging into Amplify.

Email-to-fax lets you send documents as a fax by emailing them to a dedicated fax address. This is useful when you want to fax quickly from your email client or automate faxing via email.

## Overview

With Email-to-Fax, you can:

* Send a fax from from Amplify's or custom domain
* Control who is allowed to send faxes by email
* Use email subject and body as fax cover page content
* Attach documents to be delivered as fax pages

## Enable and configure Email-to-Fax

1. Go to **Settings → Fax Settings -> Email to Fax**.
2. Choose who is allowed to send faxes via email:
   * **Not allowed**
   * **Account users only**
   * **Anyone with a verified domain**

  Email-to-Fax supports custom domains. After configuring and verifying a domain in **Fax Settings → Email to Fax**, users can send faxes to addresses such as `[faxnumber]@yourcompany.com` instead of the default `[faxnumber]@ifax.com`. This provides a branded and more seamless email-to-fax experience for your organization.

1. If domain-based access is enabled, add and verify allowed domains.
2. Save your changes.

  Only emails sent from allowed and verified domains or users will be processed.

## How to send a fax via email

1. Create a new email.
2. In the **To** field, enter the fax address in this format:\
   **`[faxnumber]@ifax.com`**
3. Add a subject (optional).
4. Write your email body (optional).
5. Attach your document files.
6. Send the email.

## Field mapping

* **To** → Fax number (`[faxnumber]@ifax.com`)

  **Custom Domain Addressing** → If a custom Email-to-Fax domain is configured, replace the default iFax domain with the organization's verified domain. For example, use`[faxnumber]@yourcompany.com` instead of `[faxnumber]@ifax.com`.

* **Subject** → Cover page subject (optional)
* **Email body** → Cover page note (optional)
* **Attachments** → Fax pages

<Note>
  Supported attachments include PDF, DOC, and image files, with a maximum size of 20 MB per email.

## Additional settings

* **Populate cover page "From" field with sender name**\
  When enabled, the sender’s name is automatically added to the fax cover page.
